2391-10 practical

Hi Guys,

Can anyone enlighten me on what is involved in the practical ?
sat theory few weeks back and am quietly confident but would like a little heads up on the old practical many thanks

Practical consists of 4 assessments:

1 - a 2 hour inspection and test on a double rig with all documentation to be completed, things like safe isolation procedure, test sequencing and safe obtaining of live tests to be observed.

2 - a 20 minute insulation resistance test, where 2 faults are switched into the rig and you need to identify the designation of the fault, along with the fault type.

3 - a 10 minute earth fault loop impedance (Zs) test where you carry out 2 tests, then compare with the OSG as to wether the reading is a pass or fail.

4 - a 30 minute inspection test where you look at a rig which has had a number of faults, irregularities introduced and you need to observe, and report your finding. A particular 12 are to be found.

These are the practical assessments as we are told by C&G to set them.




So when are you sitting the practicals?

Good luck there was a top post what brucelee put on here bout testing for 2391 do a search for it should pop up or if Bruce sees post he could forward the link to it.

feel pretty confident about the practical been doing testing for bout two years now
done a four year apprenticeship 2360 pt 1 and pt 2 and nvq level 3
then done 17th ed the month it came out and the college were doing special offer on 2377 PAT testing so done that as well
so just need this baby to get approved status on JIB
seeing the 2391 paper i sat on 2nd december what would peoples answer be to the following i remember my mind going blank on the evening ;

state THREE factors that may affect the measured EFLI value of a circuit, excluding final circuit conductor length and CSA ?

good luck mate sorry i have only just seen the thread you be ok mate just take your time and work methodically

when you safely isolate lock off remember to put key in pocket or you may fail and then dont forget toprove dead checking on the proving unit before and after
