The first floor of a commercial unit is to be inspected and tested for insurance purposes.
The installation forms part of a 400V three phase four wire TN-C-S system.
The offices are supplied from a 100A three phase four wire fused switch at the origin of the installation and one 25mm five core SWA cable with copper conductors.

The documents to be completed and passed to the client on completion of the periodic inspection and test. (6 marks)


The thing I am not sure about with this question is why it is awarded six marks.
Obviously I have to provide a periodic inspection report along with schedule of inspections and schedule of test results for the office but this would be three marks.

Do I have to do another periodic for the supply cable from the origin separately?
Or are the other three marks because I have to give two copies, one for the client and one for the insurance company.
I'm not really sure on this one.
Any comments appreciated.

Are you absolutely sure that that is the FULL question?

Often on the scenario, there is an existing installation but there has also been an addition, say a row of lights for example.

It would then ask what documentation and the 6 marks would be for a periodic inspection report + SOTR and SOI also an Electrical Installation Certificate + SOTR and SOI.

The full question:

The first floor offices of a commercial unit used for windscreen replacements is to be inspected and tested for insurance purposes as it is to be sublet to a logistics company. The installation forms part of a 400V three phase, four-wire TN-C-S system with a ZE of .07 Ohms and a pfc of 6.58KA.

The offices are supplied from a 100A three phase fused switch at the origin of the installation and a 25mm five core thermosetting insulated and sheathed swa cable with copper conductors. The remote distribution board is fitted with BS EN 60898 circuit breakers and BS EN 61009 RCBOs. The final circuits are wired in thermoplastic single core copper cored cables. The protective conductors have the same CSA as the live conductors.

The containment system is surface mounted incorporating steel conduit and trunking for the lighting and power and PVC dado trunking for the socket outlets. All accessories are brushed chrome finish.

The lighting consists of high frequency fluorescent luminaires connected via plug in ceiling roses. The first floor offices are vacant and permission to carry out the testing has been given. All testing is to be carried out at 20C.


So there it is.
I cannot see any mention of any installation work.
