hi mate when you have to explain the test procedures do you have to include using voltage indicator to prove dead

Got my exam on 10th of June and I'm going to include safe isolation in any answers that may require it just to be on the safe side.

Think the only time I won't is if I'm asked to describe a IR test on a new installation as it won't have been energised. I will note this though.

I've been doing mine in Bolton, that's where the exam is as well.

Have you been doing past papers? The need for it should only arise in part B as they are long answers, you may get a question like describe how you carry out an IR test on an existing circuit.

Start your answer with agreeing with the client a time and date, then state the safe isolation procedure, then onto the test procedure. Remember to include reinstating the circuit.

If the scenario is a new installation we have been told that as long as you state in your answer that as it is a new installation it will not have been energised you can skip the safe isolation.

Hope that helps.
