hi everyone, just had my 2391 practical and passed it, think my firm did it a bit backwards, but anyway have to do the theory soon just wondred if there is anything i should look out for or revise? also because i work form a firm we are registered through them to test and sign certificates, however we cant certify through them for your own jobs outside work. so just wondred what you need to do to be able to test and certify once you have done your 2391? by the way we generally do commercial work at my firm but work i generally would do on my own would be domestic! thanks for any help.

For the 2391 written revise GN3 till you can recite it back to front and inside out, pay particular attention to terminology like Insulation resistance tester, NOT megger.

To register your own jobs, you can do 1 of 2 things.

1, inform local authority building control of your intentions and pay their fees.
2, join one of the Part P self certification schemes (elecsa, napit, etc)

All domestic works need certificates of some description, but not all works are notifiable under Part P.

It is too long winded to explain what is and what isnt notifiable, but download approved document P it explains it all.

Cheers.............Howard

thanks mate, someone told me that if u register with the NIC its free because u have a 2391 cert which then allows you to test under the nic, is this true or do you always inccur costs to certify officially?
