Hi All

I am booked onto a 2391 course in january. After reading the comments about the course comming to an end have the college made a mistake.
should i be booking onto the new courses or will the old 2391 be acceptable.

thanks

I am in the same boat.
I had a letter from the college today stating the course would be on the old red book rather than the new green one, which indicates to me that it is definitely the 2391.

I was going todo it but was put off as I was going to wait and the local place I was going todo it said from January it will be new course anyway think I'm going to wait until the April sitting though to do it

The 2391 has been extended to July 2012. The question papers sat after January 2012 will all be written to the GREEN book.

Have a search on posts i have made. I did one recently about the ending of 2391 which gave dates by which you needed to complete by. If you pass both the practical and written, then all is well and good, but if you fail either then you have to complete before a certain date as the part you have passed cannot be used for the new qualifications. The new qualls are on the QCF, so you will get credits for completing each part as and when you do them. 2391 is being phased out and replaced with 2394, 2395 and 2396.

Cheers............Howard

Letter received today from my college says course starting in Feb 2012 will be based on BS7671:2008 inc. amendment No1:2011 (red copy)

Where am I going to get a copy of the regs which includes amendment No1 and has a red cover? Perhaps I can take the red cover off my old regs book and stick it on the front of my new green copy :)

Or perhaps they made a typo! lol

You cant. you need the GREEN copy which is titled BS7671:2008 (1st Amendment 2011) or words to that effect. The people in colleges who send the letters out are not the people who know about the course requirements, trust me i work in a college and deliver the course.

Could someone clarify this.I have some colleagues enrolled on a course in Feb 2012.
As GN3 Edition six doesnt come out until Apr 2012 I presume the course will follow the red edition ie BS7671:2008 and GN3 Edition 5.
The Green Regs( BS7671:2008 (1st Amendment 2011) has the new inspection forms in while GN3 edition five's are different.

The 1552, which I also own, does not predate GS38. You have nothing to worry about.
