how would you say it compares to the 2391? There has been a lot of talk on here of it being a dumbed down version.
I think it is a bit more difficult.
The 2391 i found to be a challenge when i took it years ago, and back then all inspect and testing for all installations, new or old was all rolled into one.
Having 2 written exams, one for each, has now added complications, not that they are any more difficult, but you have to remember which exam you are doing, as the answer to the same question on one paper could be different to the one on the other paper.
The 2394 i have found to be quite easy in all honesty, i know that is easy for me to say, but i can see no reason why any spark who is prepared to do a bit of revision should not pass this exam. Initial Verification is fairly straightforward, it complies or it doesnt, and the actions to take if it doesn't are straight froward.
The 2395 is about as difficult as the old 2391 was, and the one i sat was the most difficult paper i have seen, and i have these things going back 10 years. Of all the papers i have looked at, i have not come across one that i can't work my way through, admittedly not in exam conditions, but in comparison there were 2 questions on the 2395 that i sat, and i couldn't even work out what they were asking! bear in mind i teach this, if i can't understand, then what chance for the average spark.
If anyone tells you it has been dumbed down, then tell them to think again, the 2395 failure rate is higher than the 2391 was! The 2395 does seem to major on safe working practices and considerations to people who may be present when testing is being undertaken.
Cheers...........Howard
