I know a couple of lads who have started the 2394 & 5, and this debate has raged in their college. Essentially the old 2391 has been split into 2394 (initial verification, inspection & test) and 2395 (EICR). It doesn't matter which order you do them in but both are required to be "equal" to the old 2391. There is a on-line set of m/choice questions in both exams, but you only have to sit it/pass it once and it covers the other qual. Both have a practical element (different for 2394 & 5) and both have a closed book written exam.
The college believes the change has come about due to the high failure rate on the old 2391 and that by splitting into two courses, candidates will cope better.
