Hey guys, I have enrolled onto the 2395 periodic inspection and test and have been informed that I can sit my exam in city&guilds which has harder criteria or in EAL which has a less stricter criteria, I have been
told that city&guilds is more recognised because it has a strict criteria I'm not sure how
true this is and come somebody elaberate further.

many thanks

Not sure if it's true but I have heard that the EAL exam is open book, if that's right, and I was asked which was the best qualification I would have to opt for the C & Gs,

Yes this is true.
As I understand it ... C&G features a full written closed book exam as well as an online multi choice open book exam.
EAL only has open book online multi choice exams.

I have never taken the EAL version though so would not know this for definite. City and guilds, despite all their recent dumbing down, still hold more status in the industry than EAL in this particular qualification.

Just done my C & G 2395. I did the EAL 2394 and none of the exams counted towards the C & G 2395. I had to sit the multi choice again whereas everyone else was excused it. I would go with C & G to be on the safe side. Regards Daren.

from an employment perspective city's shield would outweigh EAL?

With any decent company, yes.

Don't just look at gaining a qualification as an aid to employment though. You should view the course as a learning opportunity first, a chance to improve your personal knowledge and skills. Even so, still choose C&G for these reasons too. :)

I recon I could pass the EAL 2395 as it's open book, not betting on it but 99.9% certain same as the 17th

Just for the purpose of balance, my local college have switched from C&G to EAL. I've never done an EAL course but I'd rather be taught by my local college - I expect an EAL course delivered by them would hold more weight with employers than a C&G course from some fly by night training centre.

Not really an EAL exam is an EAL exam whoever teaches it

At the end of the day you will have an EAL qualification wont you?
At the end of the day it gets dark.
At the end of a course in inspection and testing you should either be able to inspect and test, or to pass an exam. Simply being able to pass the exam without any knowledge of the subject defeats the object of doing the course at all, regardless of who prints the certificate at the end of it.
