Hi
Having been made redundant as a TV engineer after 20 years, Iv'e spent the last 12 mnths doing my EAL level 2 domestic installer and C&G 2382, I am now doing the C&G 2395 course. I know the course will cover a lot more than I will need just doing domestic work, but I think it is important to do the qualification and learn as much as possible as I have not gone through the normal route of an apprenticeship and experience.

Can any one recommend any further reading or books other than guidance note 3 to help with the course. I understand that it is basically the 2391 split in two.

Amazon.co.uk: inspection and testing: Books Brian Scaddans' books are of a high standard. He worked for the IET and was involved in setting the questions for the 2381 and involved in the compilation of the IEE wiring regs (currently BS7671) before he retired.

The IET have a site and the sell their own publications to the public , they also have a library to browse , but I think you have to be a member. Best of luck.

TBH, the Regs, GN3 and On Site Guide are your best bet along with 2391 past test papers. Neither the 2394 or 5 go into much more than what you will find in domestic, although you are doing your practcal on a three phase board with a single phase sub board.

As I understand it the 2394 and 5 together are being seen (by C&G at least) as equivalent to the old 2391 & 2.

Agree with Ruston that Scadden's books are good; NICEIC have also just published their 6th Edition on I,T &C.

Regards.

As all the other posts, and i will add that the NIC do some very good books. Have a look at their Domestic periodic inspection and Testing 2nd edition, and Inspection, testing and certification 6th edition. I use these as additional resource when i run the 2394 and 2395 courses, they can answer a lot of awkward questions, because even though i teach these courses, i dont know it all. They also do a couple of books "from the helpline" again good sources of reference. I am not in anyway connected to the NIC, but they do stock some excellent well priced books.

Cheers..........Howard.
