Hi,
This is my first post. Please excuse seeming simplicity of question but domestic electrics is not my speciality and the aircraft I normally work on come with far better instructions!!
I've purchased some fixed downlights to replace tilting ones I have in my kitchen. Current ones are 12V supplied by live and neutral from transformers.
New (fire-rated) downlights come with 240V holders and optional 12v holdersto be installed if required. Fitting the 12V holder is no problem but i'm concerned that there is an earth wire between the casing and 3 point junction which I will not use with the 12V set-up. Is it ok to just leave this unattached to earth and will device still be considered class 2?

Like wirepuller said, if there was 230V present at the light fitting then they would need an earth connection, as you will only 12V present then no earth connection is required as the protection is afforded by SELV.
