2919 EV course advice

I’ve heard the C&G 2919 EV installation course is being discontinued in favour of a new NVQ in Sept 2022.

Has anyone else heard this?

I’ve done my C&G 2365 level 2, do you think I’d be able to pass the 2919 now to get it done before it swaps to an NVQ? Or should I really complete level 3 first?

I don’t see why it would need to be its own NVQ. It’s pretty simple stuff.

I received an email from one of the training providers this week advising me that the 2919 was being discontinued in favour of a new qualification.

They also stated that you need to hold the NVQ L3 as a minimum entry requirement to get on the new course, so if you want an EV qualification and don’t hold NVQ, you need to book with them before 31st August or something like that.



They’re probably just scare mongering.

Ah so you need an nvq3 to enter the course. The course itself is not an nvq. That makes a little more sense.

The amount of dreadful EV installs I’ve seen it needs clamping down on (although I doubt this will). All these firms that have sprung up specialising in EV. It reminds me of PV early days. Mostly poorly trained cowboys not proper electricians imo. They’ll be onto the next thing soon.

That seems to be the case.

The course probably needs a revamp anyway, as it didn’t contain that much content to be fair.

Thanks. That makes sense with the higher entry requirement rather than it becoming an NVQ

It will never be enforced, much like a lot of courses you have to hold a L3 or equivalent so if the QS and registered with a scheme you are allowed to do the course.
The qualification is being split into small domestic based ev installs through to multi unit commercial. 3 courses in total. A right money maker for those involved.
There is no requirement to do the city guilds courses, if you follow manufacturers installation instructions and arent a complete plum then its within the remit of any reasonably confident and competent electrician.
