Doing a rewire at the moment, and the customer is buying all materials, he has bought brand new accessories for the d.stairs of the house but has asked me to re use the old stuff that was stripped out upstairs, obviously this is not a recomended practice, but is there anything out there stating that it's not allowed apart from the fact I won't sign it off with 2nd hand acc's on the install, thanks for your help, Ben Roberts

Remind the customer that you will charge for later faults involving the second hand accessories, but so long as they are in good condition and work there should be no problem.
Might be worth noting it on the certificate that customer requested this inc case of later problems (or am i just pessimistic?).

If I was coming to a new job I would never fit second hand stuff, but refixing the existing is OK.

i agree ^^^

at the end of the day you have tested the fixed install, if a secondhand socket fails that is his deal, there would only be a danger if an old one was cracked which you wouldn't fit any way. Saying that, some of the sh*** they produce these days you might find the older gear better, i have 20 year old MK in my house and it still switches good, probably better than some on the market now.

Customer buying materials = customer carrying the warranty = problems chargeable unless the workmanship is at fault

I often use second hand accessories.
In many cases, I'd rather use a second hand accessory that some new ones.
Second hand MK logic accessories are often far superior that the new cheap copies.

i agree. anyone know where i can buy some of these...
