hi

Been called to a job they have replaced old sink water heater with a 3.5 kw heater it has been wired to a fused spur how can i uprate the fuse to 16a ? i assume enclosure and a 16a mcb

you need to access the circuit that feeds it first, is it dedicated, or spur off ring is the circuit feeding it complying to regs and are test results within limits so more info before we make suggestions pls.

Is this an instantaneous water heater or a storage vessel heater?

The reg's stipulate a dedicated circuit for vessels of 15 Litres and above.

Either way, it's a fair old connected load for your ring!

You only need to switch the lines and the contactor is rated per pole so for example a 16A four pole contactor would be fine.
