Morning all

Other than my local TLC, nowhere seems to stock "3 core 4mm flex".

I was connecting a new cooker up yesterday, and the manufacturer recommends "3 core 4mm flex" as a minimum spec.

Now on a Sunday afternoon, not much chance of finding any of that, so I used some 6mm T&E that I had.

Anyone know where else you can get this from? Is it really needed?

I know the Regs state that manufacters instructions should be adhered to, it is to be remembered that a lot of appliances are European if not worldwide, and the "Instruction Booklet" is written for this in mind.

IMO when a makers instruction is going to be pohibitive as in ths case, the availaibilty of 4mm Flex I think other regs come into play and in this case Reg 521.9.2.

I use 2.5, 4.0 or 6.0 3 core H07RN-F for these tasks (sized according to the appliance). I get it off the roll at Edmundsons.
I generally buy 10m at a time though, so I've usually got what I need on the van.
This cable (flex) has the added advantage of being grease and oil resistant as well as heat resistant, neither of which t&e is.
You will need to use cord end terminals of some sorth though.

OK - thanks. I terminated it at cooker end using crimp ends, so thats OK. The T&E 6mm cable will be OK?
