Hi All,

First thread in ages.

Recently went to a a pub to carry out some origin tests before they begin a total refurb.

It used to be a 3-PH supply / metering but they are only using 1-PH (red) with single PH metering.

I opened the service head to discover a core cable swa cable......

BUT they had used 2/3 of the armour as N and the rest of it earth-clamped with separate cable joining it to the Neutral.

So - on the outside it appeared to be TN-S but they made it a Temp TNCS.

N-CPC voltage at a DB near the supply intake indicating 230V!

Are DNO allowed to do this??

Customer advised that they had applied for a 3-PH supply, they only have 3 cores so I assume a new supply cable will have to be run TP&N and armour as CPC.

Any thoughts . comments appreciated.

Regards

Hello, it was defo a swa cable and not a split consentric cable?? could look similar but are different.

(don't want to sound patronising but recently used some split con cable myself and tought then how similar it looked to swa)

Ross.

If the shared neutral is lost ,won`t you be getting 400v across both cottages? 2 phase US style but double the Voltage.
