3 methods od carring out continuity tests

Hi does anyone know the third method of carring out a continuity test method 1 is using the link to L-cpc in the c/u and measuring the open resistance the other end.

Method 2 is the long wandering lead

Method 3 is it some sort of live test like a loop impedance test? How do you do it?

Continuity should always be proved when the system is DEAD! And for obvious reasons should be the first test performed!
