Hi Guys,

Little help please.Ive got to install a 3phase mortar silo. Information i have been given.

Requires a 16a 5 pin socket outlet (neutral and earth)
100m cable run
Max load 5KW
30ma RCD protected
Assuming c or d type

Its beeen a long time since ive dealt with 3 phase. could someone walk me through this?
Dont mean to sound thick but ive got total head block right now!!

Cheers

you need to find out the actual current per phase that the motor draws before you can calculate cable size. work your current out from the 5kW over 3 phases and go from there.

A couple of formulae that might help

Iz ≥ In ≥ Ib

It ≥ I2 / Ca x Ci x Cg x Cc

Iz = It x Ca x Cg x Ci x Cc

VD = (mV/A/m) x L x Ib / 1000
