Hi all
Have a 3 phase motor 0.37kw for a small convayor belt, wired up in delta. Does this need a star/delta starter or would it be ok for a DOL starter?

hi

if you want to connect it to a d.o.l i would change the windings to star, i imagine if the motor is connected in delta its been used on a single to three phase inverter.
hope this helps

regards
gary.

Hi
The motor has 9 connections one of them being the earth. May be the extra 2 connectins would be for a variable speed control. which didnt' come with the motor.

Thanks

I aggree with all that Gary has said 100%. Many electrician has fallen foul of connecting 400volts accross a 230 volt winding. That could have well been an expensive mistake to have made; it was a good job you had the sense to ask this question on the forum.

Steve..

A 0.37Kw motor works out approx Flc 1.2 Amps it would be ok for it to be D.O.L as for wiring it in star or delta it depends on the motor manufacturer. You shouldn't need an inverter unless you want it variable speed
