Darkwood

Just to throw my penny in, think its good to see a toughening up on rules and think its a shame it has to be that some members find that the only input they put into the forum is negative and they seem to attack at any opportunity, its a forum for all walks of life from DIY to fully fledged Electricians to the just interested, and i find that when ppl are attacked for doing things that they shouldn't or because they ask a basic question because they are trying to learn that they should already know is damn right pathetic, slagging members down isn't necessary; constructive advice is welcome when you think that they are out of their depth and/or breaking the law; there are too ways to make any point and upsetting the O/P usually means you chose the wrong method.
Rant over :)

Darkwood (and D80) - I personally love the slanging matches because I do actually learn a lot from them. I'm rapidly approaching 60, I'm recently unemployed and I'm doing a sparks course. I see a load of indirect abuse (where people slag of people like myself who are retraining at my age and can afford to undercut young guys cause we have our house and are just playing at it). I personally think that when I qualify I can bring a whole pile of life experience to the trade but I see where your rant comes from.

This isn't about slanging matches the different opinions are welcome its 'i believe' due to the rise in abusive and nasty comments, as i said above; there are two ways to express an opinion, one direct abuse with unwanted language or polite but imformative even if negative. The problem is some ppl have started using this forum to vent there anger etc and a lately ive seen it more frequent and i for one wouldn't want an electrician with the attitudes ive seen on here anywhere near my house if i was joe public perusing this site.

When if first started posting in here, i didn't always agree with what was said as there are often many ways to skin a cat so to speak.
I did find the forum a little acidic and some posters came over a little tightly wound. I think some more posty members on here thought that because i was new to the forum i was new to the industry so it was a little funny in the early days. Comments about standing in front of judges cos this or that was different to how they would do it did make me giggle a bit but live and let live is my motto.
I personally dont have a problem with Electrical Trainee or whatever they are supposed to be, rarely come across them in my business and good luck to them cos i think they will need it now proper apprenticeships are like rocking horse.
I liked Glenns contributions and suspect he had an off day.
Bring him back, mods, point has been made
