30 billion for construction industry

heard on the radio tonight, the government is to invest 30billion in the construction industry to help stimulate the economy.
Is it me or does that seem rather at odds with shagging the PV industry?

Yea but what's even better is that they are only contributing 5 billion themselves in the next parliment. They are expecting pension funds and the Chinese government to fund most of it, but they don't know if they will fund it. So it's not really an announcement about funding secured - just potential funding. Next year I could potentially turnover £2 million if the Chinese gvernment fund my projects ........

I'm no economist but if investing in big projects like this is a good investment for pension fund holders then surely solar pv is too, so if the government pumps another £1 billion into solar we could all carry on benefitting???

I suspect it's a good job I don't run the economy :rolleyes4:

It is truly baffling, isn't it? The last government gets an insustry rolling and the next one comes in, kills it, and then suggests ways of getting things going.

And didn't they fund a new shopping center in Sheffield to the tune of 400 million. just want the country needs, more shelf stackers. Might have to move to Sheffield

Isn't it s case of buy now pay later. £30b (or £25b of private investment money on mortgage arrangements over the next X amount of years) into construction projects like roads etc. Then these projects will go to foreign large scale construction companies who will take the money straight out of the UK! Crazy state of affairs.

George Osbourne wants growth. Start by cutting fuel duty and a big cut. Allow people to get out there cheaply. Will see an increase in revenue because more of us will be able to get out and about. Including the weekend drive to the coast and buying the stick or rock from a local shop keeping the money in the local economy. Why cant they see this?

cheaper fuel allows us to reduce our costs and pass on the saving to the client. Win more work, allow people to have home improvements using local tradesmen etc.

The problem is the Con-servatives! only see business as + £50M turnover and employing 100's of people. The real small business in the UK is the one man bands. I truly don't know how they can be calling for growth when the month before they just put the kiss of death on an entire industry. When it comes to getting a letter from one of the international manufactures urging us to contact our MPs then the writing is on the wall.

The industry is going to die and not by lack of customers I think but by suppliers pulling out of the UK due to lack of interest and loss of income/profit.

The real problem with a lot of the investment is that apart from jobs most of the mocney goes out of the country. Heat pumps I sell english company but manufactured in china, the same for solar panel and for inverters etc

Stimulate the economy with 90% of the jobs going to Eastern Europeans then their money going out the country.

Whose will be stimulated not ours I bet you.

as someone said its a loan and people pensions with interest, buy now pay later... good point one goverment sets a good thing up and another wipes its eye out of spite... one big better than you game.. always has been, and yes they live like gypos90% then take the money back. and buy everything from everywhere.. anywonder their skint and selling valuable stuff for less for cash boosts.. ---- em all... i dont even vote anymore and never will again

Sounds a bit like the PFI in the health service. Lets let private industry build the new hospital, then we'll rent it off them, it's bound to be cheaper. How the hell is going to be cheaper if that company is going to make a profit, it's madness!!!

pete tong singing a song, its wrong.. but the reason i think is because say they get budget for 3 years they can plan it out.. and get rid of the big bills they get slapped with for simple jobs.. hard working essientials cant even get payed properly with cuts but they can pay landlord aand big profits...

just makes it clearer of projective expenditure... is only valid reason i can think of..

I might try borrowing myself out of debt.
I'll take out a loan for £1500. Spend £800 on a Solar PV course and £700 on getting myself MCS accredited.Then sit back and watch the money flow in!!!
