Hi all ,

I have recently had a domestic 4kw solar installed and am very happy with it ( just squeaked in before the FIT drop )
found these forums while searching for ways to use the solar pv to heat my hot water and the level of activity
discussion and interaction is very impressive.

Now I am tempted with the fall in installation prices , to install solar on the roof of my factory building,
its a steel clad modern shed type so low pitch angle ( easy to walk on ) and I estimate it would take 30kw.
The rear of the factory roof is approx south facing.

based near Derby in the midlands.

I would like to hear from anyone interested in quoting with information on what FIT payback could be expected
and what the installation cost would be .

I would guess there are many different options or ways of doing this so the more information the better to enable me to come to a good decision.

thanks in advance for any and all advice

nah , not that many because I am a newby and the limit on the inbox is so low

the limit on pms is restricting flow I think so excuse for using multiple replies here , hopefully should lift the limit after a couple of posts

woohoo , cleared the 6 post limit so a reasonable 50 message limit gives at least some breathing room.
obviously a good way to promote posting. MEP Elec please pm me and I will give you my email
as I said I dont claim great knowledge so am looking to gather what options there are available.

first things first, you really need to get a G59 application in to the electricity company as soon as possible if you've to have much chance of getting this installed before the next FIT cut, and before you can really know what size system you're actually wanting a quote for.

I don't know how long it takes in Derby, but in the northern power networks areas, it's 45-65 working days at the moment to turn these applications around - according to them yesterday.

Hi Gavin ,

I am surprised , it seems there are not a big number of people wanting to quote ,
I thought trade was awful ?

is it that this is a larger industrial installation rather than basic domestic ?

I will discuss things with the good folk that have contacted me and hopefully make a decision next week.
so if you want to be in with a shout , you need to contact me sooner rather than later.

That will teach me ,

Many thanks to everyone that has been in touch ,
once I get the quotes in from you all I will be looking, and learning.
then very probably spending.

I do not though need any more offers as there can only be so many options on any job.
hopefully I will already have a good selection to read through.
