my sister-in-laws other half wants to pull a feed in from the house to the shed outside to supply a socket so he can power a heater in there has they have 2 guniea pigs..

what size SWA would be best to run? he's coming off a 13A FCU which was designiated to power the shed when he had the kitchen rewired.. but due to money he wants to use smallest cable possible to get it in without too much volt drop involved.

ive measured it as 35m all in all but am getting 40metres just to be on the safe side, i personally said he may get away with 6mm but i just want to make sure before getting it him.

Cheers

Matt

Voltage drop for 6mm over 35m on a full 13A load is 3.3V, 4mm is 5V and 2.5mm is 8.1V... All of which are fine.

You can have 5% on power which comes to 11.5V for 230V

Haven't got the book though to check on armored being buried etc or whatever for current carrying capacaties, would of thought the 2.5 could do it though....

Also, it wants to be on an RCD

i think i'll go for the 4mm i suppose. He did speak to his mother who is a receptionist at an electrical firm and she was inclined to use 4mm but he asked me to make sure.

the DB is a Crabtree duel rcd and it is on one of the rcd sides so thats all good. I checked that when i was looking this morning, its on its own 16A Radial circuit aswell so its not going be a problem with loading on that side
