Been reading quite a lot of posts but many relevant ones were outdated so thought I'd ask fresh.

Putting in a 3kw single oven (states 13A plug on it), could this be fed from a fused spur off the ring? Theoretically in this case as the board is pretty close by and I'll probably put it on its own circuit anyway. I know I could put 6mm in which would allow for someone to put a huge oven in in the future but as this is my own house and the oven is in a tower with no way of fitting a bigger one, am I fine calculating a smaller sized cable?

3kw cooker + 1kw microwave = 4kw/230 = 17.4A worst case.

Cable run if new circuit would be about 6 metres and clipped direct in the garage, so how about a length of 2.5mm and a 20A breaker?

It seems as though coming off the ring would be fine but with dishwasher, hood etc going it might get a bit close to 32A if someone boils the kettle. Also I think fixed appliances over 2kw should have their own circuit shouldn't they?

Thanks :)

Ok, so what about installing a 20A radial using 2.5 and feeding the cooker switch as I mentioned? Cooker switches have a 13A socket built in so the microwave could plug in there. On paper seems absolutely fine if that's the only accesssory fitted to the circuit, but never seen it done before.
