Hi everyone,

Would someone have a diagram of how 4 wire smoke dectectors would be wired, i know 2 wires are for power and the other 2 for the alarm but i have no idea how these are wired. Some of the images that come up on a google search arent great.

Cheers!!

Forgive me, but wouldn't the wiring diagram not tell you this? You must have the model number of the device you want to fit?

Let's have details of the product you have in mind, then we'll be able to help you out properly.
I know you say that it's a theoretical question but something must have caused your interest.

The term 4 wire system usually relates, to 2 wire zone circuit and separate 2 wire sounder circuit.

Maybe you need to understand how conventional systems work
a comparator circuit will switch at precise voltages, so using ohm law you can see how the zone circuit works.introducing 470 ohms from a detector or call point will result in a reference of 8v...and O/c will result in a 28v ref, a n/c will result in a 0v...and a normal state will result in a 24v reference
