An instalaltion 4KWp in a new build house with a 3 phase supply.

Would you:
Install a 3phase inverter? not sure they are made for such small instalaltions,

Install 3 single phase inverters and a monitoring device to cut them all out if one phase drops.

Install as a single phase system and therefore lose some of the output to the grid, as only one phase in the property will be able to use the generated power? It is unlikely that during the day that they will use 4KW on any one phase but over 3 phases it is likely that they would use most if not all the generated power.

Has anyone experince of this?

Just looking at my notes from the course hope this helps a little you can install seperate strings by connecting 3.5 KW on each phase giving a total of 10.5KW on a G83/1 for bigger you need G59. The diagrams shown seem to indicate that the invertors are 3 phase. No experiece here though:teeth_smile:

4kW is the limit if you want the highest FIT tariff, 43.3p for retrofit.
But you can go higher for a reduced tariff.
16A per phase is the limit up to which in general terms you can fit PV and tell your DNO afterwards, rather than having to apply for permission in advance.

Well the tariff will not matter as it is a new build property, therefore it only qualifies for the next stage down in the tariff. Which also allows up to 10Kw. I could not remember the limit for post notification thought it was 16A not 16A per phase.

Cheers
Bruce

We have recently installed a 9.6Kwp array on our Community centre with a 3 phase supply. What is frustrating is that as the balance of our load is rarely equal over the 3 phases, we are unable to max out on produced power..
