I have been given very old panels from where I work. there are 20Cells on each panel and I have tested both at 2A at 9-10V. Open CCT voltage is not much more than that.
They are 4"x4" poly silicon cells.
I am in Ireland so no real payback of a proper grid tie system.
I have a large 1500VA UPS (24VDC) not as efficient (standby current) as an inverter but good as a starting point.
I tested it on a fridge that I have spare and it worked. ( a little more inefficient) rated at 65W@230V but was drawing 0.7A @230 from the inverter. It may be less if I let it run for a while longer? but the inverter batteries are small so I didnt want to kill them
Any mad ideas on what to use this odd number of panels for.
I was thinking (if i can buy some cells and not have to pay customs) of putting a few extra cells in series and bringing the equivelent panel voltage up to 14V as this is usable.
or else using 2 pannels in parallel and building an extra panel to use the 5th panel.
