looking at a farm installation and trying to find a cost and time scales for the export meter to get a rough idea of cost for my customer.

Spoke to Npower who told me it would be the DNO (Western Power) i needed to talk to, DNO said it would be Npower.

Can anyone give me a rough idea of prices and timescales you have come against before please?

I already have info on g59 relays and witness testing & g59 application.

30kWp, below that it is deemed. Above that it all depends wether you want to get paid or not , fitting an export meter if you don't want to get paid is NOT compulsory however the DNO's sometimes use weasel wording to imply that it is :( , or they may make it a condition of the connection - what did it say in your G59 connection approval?

If you want to get paid for export, metering an cost £400 - £600 a year in metering charges (usualy half hourly)

There is a thread somewhere here that gave a lot me details on it.

Thanks Worcester. We have not put in G59 yet as only just investigating. So if it is 50kW and the client doesn't want the export metered and the DNO doesn't enforce it then they don't get paid anything for what they don't use?

love it when the energy supplier and DNO bat you between each other ....

Sounds like fun, well, Ive not got a whole load on at the moment so it will keep me entertained for a while!

It will be a few hundred to put the export meter in. Some energy suppliers do this. As somebody stated you have to have one over 30kW. With the way energy suppliers are these days, I would not risk it.

nooo you dont have to an export meter, i have a 40kw system without export and a few customers of mine have opted out to have one

@njuk You DON'T HAVE to have an export meter - see my post above.

They still get paid for EVERYTHING that they GENERATE wether they use it or not, they just won't get the additional export tariff for what they don't use.
