Check out how this sytem has done in first five days in Feb and two days have been snowing it did over 16kw each day on 2nd & 3rd Feb 8kw yesterday !!! solar edge.JPG

Not to take away from the impressive performance of that system but the poor folks with non-optimum facings (further from South) will be struggling to keep up with the output of South-facing systems at this time of year; E/W being about half of S-facing and SE/SW being about three-quarters of S-facing.

My SE-facing, 3.75kWp has been peaking around 10kWh per day on the best days, with peak output about 10.30am at 65% of maximum capability (about 2.4kWh/h from 3.75kWp).

In the last few weeks it seemed like those of us in the Eastern half of the UK have had a much cooler, duller and wetter period than is normal for this time of year; I can't ever recall my garden being frozen solid for a whole week at this time of year - and January-February is usually the period with the lowest-rainfall (including snow; but last night we had the most snow in one dump that myself or the Mrs can ever recall).
East Anglia is normally very bright, mild and dry but it almost feels as if the planet has been knocked out of its usual orbit.

There's some useful interactive weather data maps available from the Met Office website here (make sure you set the two drop-down menu's for the exact mapped data you want): Met Office: UK mapped climate averages

As you'll see; at this time of year - and generally throughout the year - the Eastern UK (and Southern coast) is usually very sunny and dry compared to the rest of the UK.

That's very impressive, but to put it in prospective against our own - where roughly is it sited, what's the setup & whats its generation output ( peak ) ??

Yeah its 3.95kw samsung & solar edge south facing . And its south coast

Just thought I would share the 16kw news
As thats somtimes readings expected in
Spring summer

Still the client will be a happy chappy
I might even get a valentines card off him now

I am in Lincolnshire so not quite so good with a 4kw system and got 15 kw and 13.8 kw for those 2 days, so geographically it makes a difference. South facing as well.

It would be interesting to know roof slope as well - seems to make a big difference this time of year.

Mines a 30 deg slope, its not all that easy though unless you know the whole of the UK is sunny. There can be vast differences between weather within the same county let alone the same country :) But those 2 days were quite good outputs

Exactly, but one thing it does prove and prove well especially for his client is the potential of the system installed given you have the right conditions.

Lets face it - I consider having a good 3kwp system here in the NW, but due to the bad weather its taken my system 14days to produce what that system has in 3/4 days

I suppose this is exactly the reason why a better comparison can be make over the year, but again location & direction are key as well as kit used and not forgetting roof pitch, however location could be a key factor in summer months with kit that is severely compromised by heat and then is when us Northern installs could or should make up

One of our installs 9 miles from the Scottish Border achieved 13.5kwh each of those sunny days - loads more than we expected it to do at this time of year and 6kwh more than our won system which is ESE and rubbish Sharp!
