does anybody know of anywhere i can get a cheapish, but good quality short handled 6-25mm crimper?
its for uninsulated lugs, cos im sick of having to use my big ones for small motors and bonding.
sledgehammer to crack a nut, and all that.
ive looked about online, but keep geting these longhandled jobbies, that id stuggle to fit in my toolbag.

Cheers all

John

Google exactly what you put in your title and hit up the TLC link that comes up. They're the type i have for this sort of job and aren't excessively long. I don't think you'll find any that are shorter then that as i'm sure you know you won't get enough leverage with anything shorter. Mine fit comfortably in my 23" tool box so i would suggest they are about 20" long or there abouts.

cheers mate. i know that you can get them shorter, as i know 2 sparks who have them. my toolbag is already full to busting, so im trying to maximise the space inside it.

Thanks for the reply

thanks mate, but im only after the ones that do upto 25mm. it might only be 16mm. to be honest ive got the old type nutcracker ones that do upto 120mm, (hard graft for anything after 50mm!), but they are am little to cumbersome for smaller sizes.

Fare enough mate;) I went the complete opposite and bought a hydraulic one for sizes I'm very rarely going to use lol.

ive built up my tool collection for the last few years, so that when i start for myself, i dont have to spend loads all at once. im so temopted to buy the hydraulic ones, but as ive already aquired the nutcracker iones, i think they will have to do, until i get enough of the work to justify the hydraulic ones.

As a side notm, have you seen the cheap hydraulic ones on ebay? has anybody used them, and are they any good? Do the dies fit ect?

This is exactly what I did before I went out on my own, bought a new tool every month for around 3 yrs, it, doesn't stop once your self employed mind you lol, it's just nice not to have to rely on mates and calling in favours.

I was put off by the ebay ones as they don't come with a cert of calibration, which I think is worth having god forbid a joint fails in a large and expensive install atlest you've followed manufacturers instructions.

I got a set recently from Electric Center for about £20 off the shelf. Do the job nicely and not too dear.
Think the make was SWA or something like that.
