6 or 10 A lighting circuits

This has probably been covered before, but whats every ones preference on 10A lighting circuits?

If doing a new install would you rather have two 6A circuits or 1 10A (or even 16!), what with everyone wanting to have downlights these days.

Not sure how correct this is, but I understand that when the haligen bulbs 'blow', 6A breakers are more prone to trip, which is why some prefer to put them on 10A?

Always install 10 amp these days, not really any point in 6 amp circuits

Providing installation methods etc etc are not going to derate, then yep, 2 or more 10A is the way to go.

Are we talking switch drops or the actual pendant?

I think you may find that this requirement has been replaced with the requirement to have circuits fittyed with RCD's

You say 2x 6amps or 1x 10amp mate, in a new install, "houses " you have an upstairs circuit and a downstairs lighting circuit, so always 2x 10amps for me dude, + 1.5 T+E as well, we never use 1.0 like some.

lol. Seems 10A is the way to go now. I've only ever used 1.5 for lighting
Just wondered as some like to put smokes on lights for many reasons. But on a 10A?

I think 3 amp should be fitted!
It will encourage the use of energy efficient bulbs, as well as turning unused lights off

I do like the fact they are banning 100W then 60W bulbs which you would usually have 1 per room. But it is ok to have 4 50W downlights per room.
