went to change a consumer yesterday,3 phase supply with the consumer fed off l3, removed the fuse n checked for voltage to be safe, was getting 600v with the fuse removed!!! replaced fuse and went back to 240v, any ideas??

are you saying that you got 600V on he consumers installation with Fuse removed or at the service head??

possibly your meter out of cal..???

Floating neutral possibly! Removing the fuse affected the balance of the loads

ya -but not 600v with a floating neutral

maybe 400 and back down to 240

It's not impossible to hit 600v I have seen a three phase supply get to not far short of that because an 11KV / 415V transformer was not auto tapping correctly

So there may be two faults!
