6AX to 10AX

Hi, I am trying to swop 6ax light switches for 10ax. But when I fit the the 10 ax they are not working, put the 6ax back on and they work fine, I'm fitting the wires into exactly the same place on both switch, L1 and L2. Can this not be done or am I doing something wrong, please help??!!!

Is the 6AX single way and the 10AX 2 way by any chance or vice versa?

Are you swooping 1 way lighting or 2 way lighting

1 way, you mean 1 switch controls 1 light, if so yes but i do have some 2 way as well

sorry just read your question again, no they r all like for like

could be how the terminals are labelled. some switches use c, L1,L2. some use L1,L2,L3.
