Would it be okay to use the existing the old green sleeved 6mm main bonding cable to gas/water as customer does not want any wiring or floorboards lifted up.
Will i have to state this in the departures box or comments box that mainn bonding was not upgraded

It may be adequate as it is, depends on the system earthing type, also what actual work alteration, addition or maintenence

If you cant lift floorboards etc
What work are you carrying out?
What earthing system ?
What work for the customer?

i think they should be upgraded to 10mm and show them the regs but you cant break thier arms so
have u done a continiuty test on the bonding conuctors and do they come below 0.05 ohms if tey do not much to worry about just a code 4 but if higher then id say a code 2 (i maybe wrong on this) i would also get them to sign a disclaimer saying you have advised and they have refused to do the work

The adiabatic equation is NOT used to calculate the size of main bonding conductors.

Have seen this comment made regularly,so thought this might help

This size of earthing conductor will be adequate if the requirements of Regulation 543.1.3 (adiabatic equation) are met.
However, if the supply is PME, the earthing conductor is usually required to be at least
10 mm2

Thanks for clearing that ud Des

With an installation where the earthing arrangement is TN-S, the protective bonding conductors are required to be half the required CSA of the installation earthing conductor, but no less than 6mm².
The required CSA of the installation earthing conductor can be determined by use of the adiabatic equation.

Yes this thread is somewhat outdated, however if people stumble across it,the advice given by elecsa to me was "If there is existing main bonding in place and it shows no sign of deteriation or damage but does not meet the current standards then the client shall be offered upgrading to meet the current regs if the decline then a note on the certificate is put in place and there you go,clears that up,if no main bonding on place or damaged then naturally not fit to do any additions until brought up to standard.

An example of the long term race to the bottom of quality of work in our industry, IMHO.
