Hi do you now need to run a 6mm earth round your bathroom? ( lights and extract fan?) straight from board

As the bathroom is classed as a special zone the bonding in the area is suplementary bonding and should be kept within it's equipotential zone, so the bonding if any should be from pipes that need it to the electrical equipment inside the room, where the CPC takes it back to the MET.

As now with Regulation 701.415.2 there is a case for not having any bonding at all if you adhere to regulation. IMO it is still best to ensure that any metal work in the area is in fact an extraneous conductive part as often now bathrooms are done in plastice pipes and fittings.

what concerns me with this supplementary bonding is the introduction of an earth potential thus increasing the risk of electric shocks.

Are there any "extraneous conductive parts" which enter the building via the bathroom, if so, they will require "Main Protective Bonding".

If the location meets the requirements of 701.415, then "supplementary Bonding" may be omitted.

If "Supplementary Bonding" is required then 415.2 and 701.415.2 apply.
