Thanks to everyone who answered my question on a broken ring. It really helped me.

Now l'd like to go to the other end of the spectrum. What about a bridged ring? Why is it dangerous?

I know it probably sounds like a dumb question, of which im sure ill ask many. But l'd rather ask a bunch of questions that sound dumb, get the answers and understand, than to do something dangerous.

Input much appreciated...

If you have an interconnection across the ring, then a break occurs beyond it, you`ll likely end up with multiple sockets fed as an uncatered for spur with the same ccc issues you had with your broken ring e.g <27A max 2.5mm radial ccts fed from 30/32A breaker

Thanks Guys. Does that mean that the r1 r2 test would show me where exactly the ring is bridged? Would it also mean that at the start & finish points of the 'bridge', there will be 3 line, 3 neutral & 3 cpc conductors, making a lower resistance path at each of these socket outlets, than the other outlets, because of the additional conductors?

Hope you understood that comment, it was rather long & drawn out.

Thanks Jabbajaws...
