I've completed it all in rough, but before I go ahead and mark up the finished product, I just wanted to check a couple of things if anyone is currently doing it or remembers doing it..

Q2 (b) Asks to show position of sockets and fused connection units in the hotel rooms, giving consideration to the following items - Kettle,TV, Phone/laptop charging, 700W Air handling unit and electric towel rail
To keep it simple I've put the basics in as stated above and nothing more, but question 7 asks a question about the shaver points in the hotel rooms. Are they implying that we should have a shaver point on the plans? If so, it has me wondering if I should be showing appliances in addition to what is outlined above?

Q2 (d) States that any fault in any one room must not affect another room, for this reason I have given each room its own consumer unit.. Theres nothing to imply that the supply to each consumer unit needs to be shown, so I take it it that detail isn't required?

My tutor says I look too deeply into the details, so I may well be overthinking it!

Thanks ?

I haven't done a project for 25 odd years but it is easy to over think things. Placement of socket outlets should be handily located and what they are really looking for is that you don't place a socket it such a position it serves little purpose to the guest or that there isn't a socket where there really should be one. I spend a lot of time away in hotels and one of the handiest of places for a usb point is either side of the bed head I use them all the time. I would suggest all your sockets incorporate them. Definitely put in a shaver socket but use ones suitable for tooth brush chargers as people use these all the time now, not all sockets are suitable for tooth brush chargers the MK ones show they are.
You can see here on the MK one

Just another thing I've noticed, the spec states that all installations in the pool area are to be installed with 90C thermosetting single core cables. I'm looking at installing the sockets on a radial circuit, I wanted to check that the length of circuit complies with the regs... The OSG table 7.1(i) states the maximum circuit length for final circuits, but only in 70C thermoplastic, I cant find anything that states limitations for 90C thermosetting. Any ideas where I can find this info?

Use the 70°c because if you use 90°c cable your calculations will not be based on this unless all parts of the circuit including accessories are rated to 90°C.

Thanks mate, to clarify, are you saying to use 70°c for the installation instead of the 90°c? Because the spec for the project states 90°c is to be used in that area.

Check with your tutor, it may be a typo on that spec; if yours is anything like the 8202-30 design project, there were a few typos that resulted in the need for clarification from C&G.

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised, it also stipulates that no circuit should exceed 30m in length, and I'm pretty sure thats impossible to achieve.

Doesn't matter if it is a "typo" you wouldn't design an installation to 90 °C however you may specify that type of wiring but I agree you should check.

My initial was maybe 90 is specced over 70 to deal with eternal influences caused by proximity to Chlorine but I can't see C&G expecting learners to the about that, given how vague and, well, ---- Thier design specs are.

I just realised I've been a bit thick.. The chart actually states 90°c for lighting and small power. Its been a long day! Sorry to waste your time!
