A couple of questions-
  1. Are serrated washers required when using steel conduit, in regulation terms
and

2. Is there any regulation which prohibits taking one circuit through the accessories of another circuit in an industrial situation. ie.e running conduit between a line of sockets, metal clad surface mounted. I know its not ideal but in a situation where I have to run the cables through one socket to another, 2 sockets on different circuits

Thanks in advance

number 1, no i dont think, number 2 not sure what the reg says but i wouldnt espicially if its gonna be on a differant phase, you could run the conduit in a straight line but then use tee's to drop down to your sockets then your other circuit wont run directly through your sockets.

WRT to the conduit, the applicable reg groups are 543.2 & 543.3.

None specifically mention the use of serrated washers, only to ensure sound & continuous joints etc etc.

They are being stipulated more & more on the larger jobs nowadays though. All the hospitals I work in now spec them on any galv work.

with regards to the serated washers ,i have only used them on flexi conduit when adapting to freezer units basically it stops the adapter from coming loose as the unit vibrates, and i dont think you can run the other circuit through the sockets even if they on same phase but not got brb to hand so cant check on that , if you can there will need to be a warning of 2 supplys i suspect.
