Did a daft thing last week, i connected my Di-log 9083p multifunction meter to a live circuit and turned the knob to continuity instead of earth loop- sure enough the screen said "FUSE" and i had blown the internal fuse. Trouble is- i get paid per test and this was early in the day, so i bridged the spent fuse with a single strand of copper from some 0.75mm flex and carried on. Its risky but i gotta keep earning eh?
Sure enough (i think you can all guess where this is going....) later in the day i did again, and this time it blew the copper strand. But when i replaced it, the meter still says "FUSE". I asssume i have blown something internal now, but having had a quick look inside, there are no other fuses i can see- and no blackened or burnt components either, but i'm no electronics expert.
So has anyone else done this and where did you have it repaired (and how much??????)
