electical peeps every place

on non domestic work ie non part p notifable do i really need to be part of a competent persons scam in order to cert my own work.if im a quaifed installer and my work is to 17th spec and i cert my work to show so then what the hay...no back up i know but if you do things right and have documents to show so is there really a problem.....

any thoughts..........

If you dont belong to one of those scams as you put it:eek: all notifiable work must be notified to LABC before you start or asap if its an emergency they will then charge you a fortune to the point you will end up working at a loss.

Love em or hate em the cheaper alternative is join a scheme that is voluntary:confused:

Just to clarify, notifiable work is domestic, commercial / industrial works do not require any notifying, but obviously you need to be qualified or competant to carry out works. IMO a good way to show you are competant is to be qualified

ok..........so
im now confused!im asking about non domestic installation work.
do i need to do anything but issue an installation cert to 17th spec
do i need to notify the bulding inspector or not?
the cost diffence between the two options is err BIG

Unless you consider the below in bold to be commercial / industrial:

1.3.2 Scope of Part P
Part P applies to electrical installations in buildings or parts of buildings compromising:

  1. dwelling houses and flats;
  2. dwellings and business premises that have a COMMON METERED SUPPLY - for example shops and public houses with a flat above with a common meter;
  3. Common access areas in blocks of flats such as corridors and staircases;
  4. Shared amenities of blocks of flats such as laundries and gymnasiums.
Part P applies also to parts of the above electrical installations:

5. in or on land associated with the buildings - for example Part P applies to fixed lighting and pond pumps in gardens;
6. in outbuildings such as sheds, detached garages and greenhouses.

Part P does not apply to:

  1. business premises in the same building as dwellings with seperate metering;
  2. lifts in blocks of flats.

Taken from IEE Guide to the Building Regulations.

ok
thanks for the help guys.i was thinking this was correct...
so with works to say a commercial unit no need to notify labc
i can just issue installation cert signed off by myself as a qualifed
installation spark.
if only you could get this type of help from labc...but i guess they
just want us to pay to notify everyting...just to be on the safe side..!
;)
