i understand the jib grading notes are available, but id appreciate someone with an understanding of the issue to explain the above and also the easiest way to get a gold card

A friend of mine got his back, had Part 1+2 an AM2 and got electrician grade. He hasn't done his 17th and is doing his 2391 with me now.. if any of that helps.

Im still waiting for mine, I have:
16/17th
2330 2+3
ECS
in the middle of 2391 (I know that accounts for nothing)

Why do you need it?

so I can call my self an electrician. :)

Ive sort of fell into electrics backwards and from day one ive been on the tools.:pit was seeing ppl out of college with this qualification or that who didnt know one end of screwdriva from the other that made me realise that i did know a thing or two about electrics and that was the reason why i tried to get some papers under my belt

I feel reasonably confident in the work that i take on, or have been asked to do, or what has been asked of me and there's no issues but of late a whole new type of tradespeople have emerged and many of them must be very talented but that stigma of being an overnite sparx is horrible and if jib sez you're a sparks then u must be and there's hardly anyone who cud tell u otherwise.:cool::D

on paper i would seem to be an overnight sparx and it dosnt rest easy with me

To be honest JIB can say what they like about me its makes little difference!

I have been seeing more and more on forums many people saying that people with qualifications normally are inadequate on the tools, its as much a generalisation as saying people without nvq3 are not electricians!

I have been working with electrics for nearly 14 yrs on large installations, fault finding, industrial mainly but dabbled in domestic (not my bag) panel wiring, PLC programming, instrumentation etc etc and yet because I did my apprenticeship through a mantenance route (and worked very hard to complete it) JIB dont class me as a sparx

I hold many certs and I know what I am and I certainly dont need JIB to confirm it

It’s sad that you had to say no more money to them for them to pull their fingers out.
