AC SWA cable

Guys,

Can I ask for your input please? For those that use a good amount of AC SWA cable, typically what sizes do you tend to use most often. I know it's almost a case of "how long's a piece of string" but any idea of most commonly used variants would be handy to know as we're considering stocking....

3C or 4C?
10mm2, 16mm2, 25mm2 etc etc?

Many thanks in advance,

Andy

Depends if it's 3 phase or single phase and what you are supplying,
Look at your line of work and see what load you will need to deal with,

If you need to make sure it will cover all based buy a drum of 195mm 5 core that should suit most jobs

3 core mostly 6mm2 for runs to domestic inverters in lofts or outbuildings, but most recently would be 6mm2, 10mm2 and 16mm2 for different jobs

4 core 4mm2 0r 6mm2 for external DC runs in dual tracking situations, or 6mm2 fairly often for 10kW 3 phase fairly short runs, or 10,16,25 etc for longer runs / bigger jobs

tbh we're also using a fair amount of 6mm 2 core for single phase using the armour for the earthing, which means we can use this as dual purpose for DC and AC runs so less stocking, less wastage.

ALmost always 6mm2 for the AC as we almost always only need it when it's in the loft, and mostly install 3-4kW systems, so 6mm2.

We tend to use 4mm2 for the DC on domestic, but will use the 6mm2 if we parrallel on the roof, or for longer commercial runs, so it all gets used.

I realised we had over a grand's worth of SWA of various types sat in the warehouse a while ago, so started trying to rationalise things a bit.
