Hi was wondering what sort of wiring is involved with AC units what power they what cable is used etc. any comments helpful:winkiss:

Depends up on the size of the AC unit will govern the size of cable used, you can have small units up to one large unit which will supply several indoor units it's like the old saying how long is a piece of string?

What type of AC unit is it, ..a wall banger, split AC, ducted split AC?? Is it a inverter inverter controlled compressor, or standard set-up?? Far too many variables to be able to give you any meaningful direction/advise...

Single or 3 phase feed to the outdoor condenser unit, typically 16 to 32amp supply.
Single phase feed from outdoor to indoor unit, typically 5 amp supply, unless it's got additional electric heating within the indoor unit if it's fan coil.
Control cable 4 core between indoor and outdoor depending on whether it's heat pump or cooling only.
Data link between indoor and wall mounted controller, if wired.

If it's VRV, radial supply from outdoor to all indoor units, or from local supply to indoor.

Cable size dependant on distances involved, can be a long way between outdoor and indoor.

Or many other combinations..

Going to see it today will let you know thanks mate

unfortunately you have sort of asked "what cable do i need for a motor" after all thats basically whats in there, without giving any clue to the size of it. As A/C units vary in size, shape and all the rest its an impossible question.
I guess this is why some grumpies are letting rip.
Anyway its on the rating plate, or in the desctructions

Tony i have not started this as it was an inapproiate comment. If they asked are you an electrician i could have responded diffrently but saying " please say no!." how do you expect someone to respond
I didnt know because i had not seen the job but it turns out that they are individual units which need a 13amp fused spur. Its domestic so i was thinking to wire in t+e but is there a preferred cable like fp200?
