Hi all :)Its taken a while but i finally got round to applying for approved status. I did the paperwork and sat the assessment. I passed all the sections except the testing, it was all fine until i went to test Ze when the examiner said he couldn't let me continue due to a requirement that was a safety issue rather than something from the regs. It transpired that i was supposed to cover the trunking in the installation booth with 1000v insulated sheeting, held on with special clamps. This was in case a live cable popped out of the main switch and touched the inside of the DB while i had the main earth disconnected. All fair enough but not something i had ever heard of or seen done. Anyone have any guidance on how i should do this and how much exposed metalwork should be covered? I'm in Scotland btw, in case methods or assessments differ.

i can see his reasoning, but never known a cable to pop out of a main switch terminal... ever. what if the building were struck by lightning? what if the dis board were to fall off the wall. ? personally, i think he needed a failure on his work sheet.

never even heard of it mate. but having said that, i'm a bit out of date with industrial. things change so fast. today i saw a dentist wearing a full face protector, similar to the ones used when using an grinder on steel, just to test fit a set of false choppers H&S. FFS.
