Acceptable spur length from fcu

Putting a final ring in kitchen and will have a fcu on the ring for the cooker hood.
I want to then run from fcu up wall to a flex plate.

Due a window above the fcu I can't run straight up and it also wouldn't be where the outlet needs to be. I can run down from the fcu, under the floor and then back up where it is needed. That run would be around 4 meters, is this ok?

I'm sure I read in the regs that it could not be longer than 3 meters but damned if I can find it now.

can you n ot fit the FCU high level next to the hood so as to flex direct from FCU to hood?

No, there is no maximum length in the reg's but the On-Site Guide recommends "as a rule of thumb for rings, unfused spur lengths should not exceed 1/8 the cable length from the spur to the furthest point of the ring"

Your spur will not be unfused anyway.

Cant you shove the FCU in a cupboard and then run a 1.0mm cable up the wall to your flex outlet?

I could but prefer it above worktop, was putting it next to cooker switch.

If there's no reason to not do it as I described then I will carry on.

Absolutely, of course volt drop and Zs would be limiting factors but in a domestic situation and with RCD protection on at least your addition, you'll be fine!

Don't forget if the cable is buried in the wall it must be in a safe zone. It sounds as if this will be a problem from your intended FCU position.
