Hi all,

If we are going to get this place moving again we need to know what Trainees are still looking at this section of the forums.

So if you are a Trainee on the forum, say hi in here and let us know what you would like to see in this part of the forum.

I’m a trainee, currently doing my level2 dip in electrical installation! I live in South Wales.

I don’t have an apprenticeship as yet nor have I managed to 100% confirm going out with a spark ( however I am in talks with one now)

I would like to know plenty of things, but what would be good is if we can talk about, the basic things that need to be known in order to be a asset to a sparky and not a liability.

For example when people ask you “ok you want to be a sparkys mate, what experience do you have” Your reply is none, it’s then “sorry mate blah blah blah”

No one ever tells you ok what we class as experience is x y z .....

So my question is as a sparkys mate what do the self employed guys or companies expect you to know, theoricyicall, practically etc?

I'm a trainee. Nearing the end now, finish college in Nov then it's just portfolio and AM2.

I've really found this forum useful. Lots of advice and no judgement even with the daft questions that I've asked.

Not sure what could be added, perhaps a daily/weekly/monthly question or teaser??

Hi and a great question. Would you mind posting this in this section of the forum and let’s start getting some answers for you.

I keep meaning to let the admins know I'm not a trainee anymore. Qualified last October, licensed tradesman now :)
Hi Mate, well unfortunately once any trainee becomes qualified they should have access removed as they are no longer trainees. Let me put this in the staffroom for discussion.
If you are happy for me to remove it i will do and a bonus of losing trainee status is you should technically be able to get Arms access.
Think of us as the gift that keeps on giving :D

Still a trainee here, and that ain’t going to change for quite a while despite passing a shed load of exams. The fun is only just starting :) .

Keep it up mate, it will all be worthwhile in the end

Jay, yes this is the trainee forum.
I think Neil just meant post any questions in here rather than the open forum, he has kindly agreed to try and get things busier in here again.

I don’t mind, not sure where to post or what to do!

In the ‘Trainee’ section at the top right of your screen will be a ‘Post New Thread’ button.

Click in that, give your post a suitable title and then some detail.

Then click post.

Just started 2365 at local college as the Electrical Trainee course I did was s***t at the practical stuff. Pretty basic stuff but at least I get to play with some conduit. Third of the cost as well. Last time I played with taps and dies was probably in school metal work circa 1975:oops:
