I am a DIY house renovator. I have 5 outside lights connected to a switch in the hall. Power from the switch goes up the 2 core + earth to the first light, then all of the other 4 lights are daisy chained to each other. (Have 2 cables coming out of each light except the last one) all worked fine no issues.

So i added a new light. Now due to its position on the house, i took the feed coming from light 1 and joined it to the new light 6, and then the feed originally from light one going to light 2, then went from light 6 - now 1,6,2,3,4,5 and not 1,2,3,4,5.

Lights switched on fine and then stay on for about 1.5 hours then RCD snapped?

What have I done? Was convinced this was absolutely the correct thing to do.

Remove the two altered fittings and check you have not damaged any conductor insulation and look for water ingress. Can you show a couple of pics for the connections when it is daylight. ISOLATE POWER FIRST.

Checked all of the connections today and then put all of the lights on. Been on for about 5 hours and had zero trips from RCD. Leaving them over night to see if they trip. Cannot understand this?

I think you may have nicked something and you have shifted it so let's hope for the best.
