I have a single wall switch powering 1 light and I want to add a separate light and change to wall switch to a double to power them both separel;y, how do i do this please?
 
You will need a neutral for the new light, also have you tested the switch for an effective earth?
I think you might need to employ an electrician.

Ok Thanks - I had hoped it would be fairly simple, but as its a little out of my comfort zone, ill take you advice.

Rough age of house?

Modern homes tend to have a neutral at the switch, so it might turn out easier than you think.
