I have been asked by a client to add a heat detector point into a gymnasium which at present only has break glass points.

Can I run a 4 core cable (MICC) from the break glass point, which has two MICCs at present, and connect the cables appropriately in the break glass point?

Done similar plenty of times with my old firm so i'm guessing it's okay however someone with a better knowledge of BS5839 Pt.1 would be able to advise you further.

you need to maintain a radial with no spurs. easiest way is a 2 core from the end of line and relocate the eol device. alternatively, break into the circuit with a galv tee box and use a 4core , 2 cores to new detector and 2 cores back, jointing in box to preserve the radial.

just as telectrix says is fine thats how we did it when altering and installing fire alarms the only thing i would add is that the cable you add on should be of the same fire rating or above of the one you are adding too
or at least that is what my old boss always said
