I have been asked to quote for a job to move and change a light fitting. The circuit has no CPC. I have told the customer that as there is no earth, the new light fitting needs to be one that doesnt require an earth, look for class2 fittings

Now the thing i am not sure about is how do i fill in the MWC. R1+R2 and R2 have no value and what about Zs?

The customer has other fittings on the circuit that are class1. I informed him that if these have no CPC, my advise is to take them down and replace with class2. He told me he had this no earth problem when he had those fitted but the sparks had added a CPC, but he has no certs. Do i just mention on comments on existing that he has class1 fittings elsewhere on the circuit on the cert

A Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate declares that the work complies with BS 7671:2008 incorporating Amendment No. 1 (2011). If there is no cpc then the work does not comply with the Regulations.

i would look at the possibility of running in a cpc, if only to the lights. if the switch drops are in conduit (as they often are), a single can often be slipped in.

you can put lim
and comments on exhisting installation no cpc to lighting circuit and requires an eicr to bring up to date after all remedial works are carried out.

The customer has decided he would like me to run a CPC to the new light fitting he wants me to install. Floor boards cant be lifted in the floor above due to wood flooring. However i can take a run from the CPC to the lights relatively easy. He has rewirable fuses and no RCD. He is happy with the new CPC being surface mounted for the short run it can be seen (its will be in cupboards mostly). The lighting circuit is run in 1mm. I have some 2.5 cpc singles in the van, I was thinking of using that.

You would have thought they'd have a switch to flick on and off to engage an override. Not on each PIR but an actual light switch
