Adding power to the loft

With reference to the attached file (LoftSocket.pdf)...


I need to add power in the loft for a TV amplifier. In previous houses I tapped into the light ceiling rose which was easy enough because the lighting circuit was a 'looped circuit' so there was a permanent live available (see pages 1 and 2).


But in in my new house, the lighting circuit is 'single and earth' so there is only a switched live available (see page 3). Therefore the amplifier would only work if the light was turned on !


So, I plan to add a mains socket to the ring main. I found two 2.5mm wires that go to a socket in a bedroom (see page 4).


Is it correct how I plan to wire the loft socket (see page 5) ?

b easier just to spur off a single 2,5mm T/E from the bedroom socket to the loft socket outlet.

Or immersion, hide the cable in the cupboard so not on show

Get a spark in to do the job in an hour, an save a lot of fuse and your house going on fire with the risk of you and your family in it.

You can carry out this work if you are classed as "competent" to carry out the work, ie qualified and experienced. Obviously you will need to test the circuit once it's modified, and produce a minor works certificate for the addition.
